Colleyville Police Dept. Earns State Honor

The Colleyville Police Department received the award of “Recognized Law Enforcement Agency” from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program this month. Initially recognized in 2015, this is the department’s second successful on-site inspection. CPD will carry this prestigious designation as a Recognized Agency for the next 4 years.

Starting in 2006, the Recognition Program evaluates a Police Department’s compliance with over 168 Best Business Practices for Texas Law Enforcement. These Best Practices were carefully developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in the efficient and effective delivery of service and the protection of individuals’ rights. These Best Practices cover all aspects of law enforcement operations including use of force, protection of citizen rights, vehicle pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations.

Chief Miller would like to thank and recognize the entire team for this significant achievement. “Our staff truly believes in the value of accreditation and in following these industry best practices. Accreditation is not mandatory, but it demonstrates to our community that we are a professional agency that meets the highest law enforcement standards in the State of Texas.”

The actual presentation of the award will take place at the October 2 City Council Meeting. The department will also be recognized at the Texas Police Chiefs Association next annual conference.
