Names Selected for New Elementary Schools: Trinity Lakes & Arbor Creek
At their meeting on Monday, November 18, 2019, the HEB ISD Board of Trustees selected names for two buildings under construction. The choices continue a tradition of names related to local geography of a school’s community.
The school formerly known as “Elementary #21” will be named Trinity Lakes Elementary. This school is near the intersection of Precinct Line & Trammel Davis Road, in a part of Fort Worth that is within HEB ISD’s boundaries. Trinity Lakes is the name of the new housing development that will surround the school; it evokes the bodies of water that connect to the West Fork of the Trinity River to the school’s south.
The school formerly known as “Elementary #22” will be named Arbor Creek Elementary. This school is near the intersection of East Midway Drive & International Drive in Euless. In addition to referencing Arbor Creek Drive and the small waterway north of the school, the name alludes to the city’s tree-friendly reputation.
Both schools will place special emphasis on fine arts programs for students. Preliminary plans are in place for opportunities to study vocal & instrumental music, two- & three-dimensional art, and theater & movement.
The schools are scheduled to open for the 2020-2021 school year. Attendance boundaries for the new schools have already been shared with families as part of HEB ISD’s Attendance Boundary Adjustment process. Construction funds for the two new schools were overwhelmingly approved by local voters as part of HEB ISD’s 2018 Bond.
