Beards for a cause: Police officers contribute to children’s charity
Some wooly Fort Worth police officers donated $21,446 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during No-Shave November.
Many officers on the force grew beards and raised money for the cause. Each officer donated $50 to participate.
“The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free,” Police Chief Ed Kraus said.
Across the nation, No Shave November has helped raise more than $1.8 million in the fight against cancer since 2009. Each year, participants forgo shaving for 30 days to evoke conversation and raise awareness. In some cases, unused monthly hair-maintenance expenses are donated to the cause.
