Keller ISD is expanding its current half-day Pre-Kindergarten program for eligible 4-year-olds to a full-day program beginning in the 2020-21 school year.

Texas lawmakers approved funding for the expansion of full-day Pre-K statewide during the 2019 Legislative Session. There may also be opportunities for students who don’t qualify for the free program to participate in a tuition-supported program.

Additionally, Keller ISD is excited to announce the opening of its third early learning campus. Keller ISD Early Learning Center East will be located at 7200 Denton Highway in Watauga. The District has rented classroom space from Harvest Christian Academy allowing KISD to serve even more of our Pre-Kindergarten students. ELC East will run a Keller ISD program and will not be affiliated with Harvest Christian Academy or Lifestyle Christianity.

Full-Day Pre-K will begin at ELC East in January 2020 and will be offered to families that are currently on a waitlist at the other ELCs. Eligible families are welcome to register for remaining spots. For more information about the Early Learning Center East, contact the Early Learning Department by phone at 817-744-122 or email at

Students may attend Keller ISD’s full-day Pre-Kindergarten program free of charge if they are 4 years old before September 1 of the school year and meet any of the following criteria:

  • are unable to speak and comprehend the English language;
  • are educationally disadvantaged (meaning, a student who is eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch program);
  • are homeless;
  • are the child of an active duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces;
  • are the child of a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who was injured or killed while on active duty;
  • are or ever have been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care); or
  • are the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award.

Keller ISD will once again participate in the American Heart Association’s District Heart Challenge, and everyone in KISD will be encouraged to wear red on Friday, February 7, for National Go Red Day.

Did you know that heart disease is the number one killer of all Americans? The good news is that 80 percent of the risk factors are preventable!

Plan to wear red on February 7 as we show our support for the American Heart Association and encourage our community to be heart healthy by getting their blood pressure checked, staying active, and making smart dietary decisions.

Donate to the American Heart Association by texting KELLERISDGIVES to 41444 or by clicking here. Donate $20 to get the official “Go Red” T-shirt for 2020. T-shirts must be ordered by Wednesday, January 15, to receive them in time for National Go Red Day. Be sure to share your support on Twitter using #GoRedKISD.
