KISD – THREE WRESTLERS WIN REGIONALS; 11 QUALIFY FOR STATE
Keller ISD high school wrestlers competed in the Region 1-6A Wrestling Tournament on February 14-15, and three athletes walked away as Regional Champions while another eight qualified for a spot at the UIL Class 6A State Tournament.
Keller High School had a pair of Regional Champions in brothers Parker and Preston Decker. Parker Decker won the Boys 132-Pound Division at Regionals defeating Julian Solis of El Paso Pebble Hills with a fall in 3:54 to maintain a perfect 38-0 record on the year. Preston Decker also stayed perfect on the year and took the crown in the Boys 152-Pound Division with a 5-3, sudden-victory-round victory over Arlington Martin’s Julius Alfaro.
Timber Creek High School also earned a Regional Championship at Joylynn Wegman won the Girls 148-Pound Division. Wegman improved to 49-3 on the season with a fall of De’Jah Wallace from Arlington Lamar in 2:28. Wegman will return to State a year after helping the Timber Creek girls team win the school’s first team State Championship.
