Texas governor extends school closures until May 4

Texas governor extends school closures until May 4

TO:             Northwest ISD Parents, Caregivers, and Staff

FROM:       Ryder Warren, Superintendent of Schools

SUBJECT:   NISD School Buildings Closed Until Monday, May 4, 2020

During a press conference today, Governor Greg Abbott announced school facilities in Texas will remain closed through April 30, 2020. Unless this decision is changed in the coming weeks, Northwest ISD will make plans to open all school buildings back up on Monday, May 4, 2020.

As we have discussed in correspondence to families and staff and in our Facebook Live presentations, we have planned for an extended closure. We will continue serving families through our iNvest2Learn home learning program, and we will continue offering free breakfast and lunch meals for all students at six campuses. We have also updated our website with links to online technology and counseling support for students, so please take advantage of these resources if needed.

I will continue to keep you updated through emails and other communication, and we remain in contact with the state and health agencies providing guidance.  We will have our weekly Facebook Live presentation tomorrow (Wednesday, April 1, 6 p.m.), and I will address this latest update as well as other questions during the Facebook Live chat on the Northwest ISD page.

Thank you for your support of our children!

Thank you,

Ryder Warren, Superintendent of Schools
Northwest Independent School District
