“There is no doubt that our country is facing a serious problem when it comes to health care reform. As such, I applaud the Obama Administration’s and its efforts through the Affordable Healthcare Act to address that serious issue. More than ever, we need the help of all stakeholders, including elected officials at all levels of government – to come together regardless of party lines, philosophical differences, or geographic region of the country, to go to bat for an improved quality of life, a sound welfare, and the well-being of all Americans, including their health care access and affordability. This free workshop being hosted by the LULAC National Educational Service Center is just one positive step in that direction. I urge everyone to sign up and attend it,” said Rep. Alonzo.
This workshop will serve as a guide to understanding the different options available during open enrollment through www.Healthcare.gov More importantly, participants will also learn which policies, premiums, and coverage are best for their individual and family needs. This federal healthcare initiative means a lot to Texas and its residents. Since it was first instituted, we have been seeing steady improvements to Americans’ access to health care, including Texas, despite some of the critics and other details that are being worked out daily.
“I am convinced that the affordable healthcare reform package proposes to build on and improve the current system. The plan ends some of the insurance industry’s most despicable practices, reduces costs for people with insurance and makes coverage more affordable for people without coverage. Additionally, it also sets up a new competitive insurance marketplace where small business owners and families can shop for the insurance plan that best fits their needs,” concluded Rep. Alonzo.
