Tarrant Area Food Bank Events September – December 2014

Give to Tarrant Area Food Bank via on September 18th between 6am and midnight and the donations will be multiplied from a pool of $1.5 million dollars of bonus funds and prizes.
Organized by Communities Foundation of Texas, North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event that provides people in North Texas the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits. In just five years, North Texas Giving Day has pumped more than $60 million into the North Texas community. In 2013, more than 75,000 gifts totaling $25.2 million, benefiting more than 1,350 nonprofits.

Tarrant Area Food Bank breaks ground on a new building and announces plans to improve its warehouse in order to provide more food to the increasing number of north Texans in need. The ground breaking marks the end of the first phase of the food bank’s Capital Campaign as it launches the second phase to finance new freezers, coolers, other crucial equipment and expansion of space within the existing warehouse building.

Imaginative sculptures are built by teams of professional architects, designers and engineers with cans of food. The cans are positioned so that their label colors reveal structures ranging from larger-than-life ice cream cones and beloved childhood characters to scaled models of ships and famous buildings. KICK THE CAN kicks off Tarrant Area Food Bank Holiday Food Drive
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Sundance Square Plaza, Fourth and Calhoun Streets, Fort Worth

To kick off the Tarrant Area Food Bank Holiday Food/Fund Drive, teams of adults and school children kick (empty) cans across the plaza pave stones. Teams compete to win trophies for not only fastest times, but for HUMOROUS AWARDS in categories such as Cutest Costume, Mascot Challenge, Most Spirited and Oops!

November – December 2014
Tarrant Area Food Bank elves address and mail to one’s mailing list a special holiday card that includes a recipe by a well-known Fort Worth chef, all for donations to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. One’s donation is acknowledged inside the card with a statement saying a gift has been made to Tarrant Area Food Bank in honor of the card’s recipient. See last year’s card at
