Keller Mayor Gary Reaves resigns
It’s with a great deal of regret that I inform you this evening of Mayor Pro Tempore Gary Reaves’ plans to resign from his City Council seat. Gary has faithfully served the Keller community since 2008, spending four years on the Planning & Zoning Commission before his election to the City Council in May 2011.
I know I speak for the entire City Council in wishing Gary luck in his pursuit of the professional opportunities he anticipates will demand significant portions of his time in the coming months. And I personally will miss his counsel and the assistance he has so generously been providing me over the past several weeks as I’ve settled into my role as Keller’s mayor.
The City Council on Tuesday will call a special election for the upcoming November ballot, and Gary has agreed to continue his service, in a reduced role, until his successor is elected. Those interested in applying for his Place 2 seat may pick up a candidate packet from the City Secretary’s Office at Keller Town Hall beginning Wednesday, Aug. 6, and the candidacy filing deadline for the Nov. 4 election is Thursday, Aug. 21. For more information, please contact the City Secretary’s Office at 817-743-4004.
