City notified of positive mosquito samples
The Tarrant County Public Health Department has notified the city that four of our mosquito sample submissions have tested positive for the West Nile Virus. One of the sample sites, tested positive previously. For each of the other sites, these are the first positive samples.
The city will begin localized fogging in the open areas around these sites over three consecutive evenings over the weekend. We will continue larvicide treatments as well, using the granular larvicide introduced earlier this year. Traditional ground spraying from a truck will not be done. Fogging will be accomplished in a targeted area using all-terrain vehicles and backpacks in and around areas where sample sites are located.
Residents within a quarter-mile radius of any positive sample site have been notified by CodeRED message-phone, email, or app. Those in proximity to fogging activities have received a door notification.
In Tarrant County, there were 18 positive test results reported from samples tested this week.
