Human Rights Campaign Endorses Senator Leticia Van de Putte For Lieutenant Governor
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBT Americans, has endorsed Senator Leticia Van de Putte to be the next Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
The Human Rights Campaign issued this statement:
“The Human Rights Campaign is proud to announce our endorsement of Leticia Van de Putte for Texas Lieutenant Governor. Senator Van de Putte has an extensive track record on equality issues, including voting against a proposed constitutional amendment that would discriminate against same-sex couples. During her role as “Governor For A Day,” she publicly advocated to end employer discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. If this is the type of work she gets done in one day, we are confident she’ll get more done as Texas Lieutenant Governor.”
Senator Van de Putte thanked HRC for their support, saying:
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign. This organization has worked tirelessly to end discrimination and to promote equality for all. Their support means so much to me. In all my years of public service, I have strived to make sure that every Texan’s rights are protected. Today, our work continues to ensure future generations live in a state where no one is discriminated against on the basis of who they love, gender, religion, or their race. As Lieutenant Governor I will continue to be an advocate for equal rights for all Texans.”
