Senior Pipeline Tidings
It’s that time of year again! Have you noticed the activity in the arts and crafts rooms? Diana Conway, and a few volunteers, are working hard to create all kinds of wonderful items to be sold at our annual Craft and Holiday Market on October 24, 2014. Glass fusion pendants, burlap and button picture frames, jewel coasters, and decorated bottles are just a few of the items they have been working on with potentially more craft projects to come. If you have an interest in crafts, please check the sign on the front desk that lists days and times volunteers are needed to work on various craft projects. Diana really needs more hands to make this happen. Let’s pull out all stops and make the 2014 Craft and Holiday Fair an even better event this year. Last year’s Craft and Holiday Market was a huge success. Over 30 volunteers worked through the year making items that were sold to raise funds for the Senior Center. Studio B was full of beautiful handmade items. As a result of all their hard work, a total of $1,738.50 was raised.
Kitchen volunteers baked cookies, kept the coffee pots filled, delivered lunch boxes, made popcorn and ice cream floats. Lexington Place Nursing and Rehabilitation provided the ingredients for the ice cream floats. The Café raised over $172 in sales of sodas and snacks.
Tickets netted a total of $315 for the Quilt Raffle. Shirley Richardson was the lucky winner of the beautiful handmade quilt.
The money made at our Craft and Holiday Market was used to acquire shelving for Studio B. A mirror was purchased for the dance and fitness classes to use in the multi- purpose room and a popcorn machine was purchased. We are all reaping the rewards of the time and effort that went into making last year’s Craft and Holiday Market such a great success.
Be sure to mark your calendar today so you won’t forget to attend the Annual Craft and Holiday Market on October 24, 2014. It will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM that day. Plan to do your holiday shopping early this year.
