Irving ISD to Continue Discussions about Voting System
During a special-called board meeting this evening, the Irving ISD Board of Trustees addressed the ruling of Chief Judge Fitzwater regarding Irving ISD’s current voting system (five single-member districts and two at-large seats).
Judge Fitzwater’s memorandum of opinion gave the district 60 days to develop a plan for its single-member voting districts.
This evening, the Board of Trustees discussed their options which include submitting re-drawn maps that better comport with the judge’s opinion. The Board plans to continue discussions and comply with the 60-day timeline.
