Dolores Huerta Backs Leticia Van de Putte & Joins Latinos for Leticia
The Leticia Van de Putte for Lt. Governor campaign launched its Latino voter initiative. Latinos for Leticia will forge a grassroots effort to mobilize Latino voters through online outreach and field events for this November’s election.
Dolores Huerta, long time civil rights activist, co-founder of the United Farm Workers, founder of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, and Labor Leader (for identification purposes), released the following statement:
“Leticia knows the definition of hard work: she raised her six children, worked as a pharmacist in el barrio while serving her community — and Latinos across Texas — as a State Senator. She has consistently pushed for equal rights for every Texan, and has fought for our “Dreamers” seeking higher education.
“Leticia understands the everyday problems facing our community, and where we need to be to fulfill our promise. She is a problem-solver, a hard worker, and a champion for every Texan.
“There is much at stake this November and this is a historic election. Texans will elect their first Latina Lt. Governor. I know she will always watch for the interest of all Texans, and that is why I am confident she’ll thrive as Texas’ next Lieutenant Governor.”
