Irving ISD Offers Credit by Examination for Advancement to Next Grade Level
For students and families wanting to apply for Credit by Examination (CBE) in Irving ISD, applications must be submitted by Friday, September 26. CBE thoroughly evaluates the student’s knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of the course or grade level.
Without Prior Instruction
Credit by examination is offered to students as an opportunity to receive credit for a course in which the student has received no prior instruction. A student may advance one grade level (6-8) or one course per subject area (9-12) in each testing period.
· Scores 80% or above on an approved examination in order to receive credit.
With Prior Instruction
Students may earn credit by examination if they have received prior instruction in the subject for which the examination is taken.
· Scores 70% or above on the course examinations and/or completes applicable projects.
Applications are available from the student’s school counselor. Testing dates will be October 25 and November 1 at de Zavala Middle School located at 707 W. Pioneer Drive in Irving.
