Leticia Van de Putte Praises Veterans in Piping Program
Today, Senator Leticia Van de Putte, Democratic nominee for Lt. Governor, joined Veterans in Piping (VIP) for a tour of the Local 100 Plumbers and Pipefitters Training Center in Garland.
The Veterans in Piping (VIP) program allows veterans and active-duty soldiers preparing to leave the military the opportunity to acquire necessary skills for a career in welding. Participants earn entry into apprenticeship programs like Local 100’s and job placement. The VIP apprenticeship program is at no cost, as they simply, “Earn while they Learn.”
Senator Leticia Van de Putte issued the following statement:
“As the daughter of a veteran, I know all about the sacrifice of the brave men and women of our military. When these heroes return, the only thing they seek is the same opportunity to prosper.
“Programs like Veterans in Piping (VIP) provide our returning heroes the opportunity to acquire indispensable skills and a direct entry to Texas work force. Veterans receive top-level training, but have difficulty obtaining college credit and skills when they return home to civilian life. Our job is to get them the education credits they need and propel them to a career of their choosing. Texas must always remain the friendliest state for our Veterans.
“As Lieutenant Governor, I’ll fulfill the promise to our military members, veterans and their families that Texas will always take care of them.”
