KISD and Sodexo Join to ‘Read for the Record’
Keller ISD and its child nutrition services provider Sodexo joined with millions across the country to break the world record for the most people reading the same book on the same day, October 21, 2014.
The event was part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record campaign which celebrates literacy by participating in what aims to be the world’s largest shared reading experience. On October 21, people across the country will unite to read the children’s book Bunny Cakes, by bestselling author and illustrators Rosemary Wells.
In 2013, Read for the Record set a new world record, with 2,462,860 reading Otis by Loren Long. Jumpstart is hoping to surpass that number this year, and Keller ISD students were able to be part of the record again this year. Jumpstart is still calculating the numbers so check back soon to see if the record was broken.
