Irving ISD Teacher Named NAACP Educator of the Year
The Irving-Carrollton Branch of the NAACP named Irving ISD’s Mary Perry as Educator of the Year. Perry is a veteran educator with over 25 years of experience teaching in Alexandria, Louisiana, Fayetteville, N.C., and Wisner, La. She is currently a Kindergarten ESL (English as a Second Language) and GT (Gifted and Talented) teacher at Thomas Haley Elementary School. She mentors new kindergarten teachers at Thomas Haley.
“I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference…I remain a teacher because I’m making a difference, one child at a time,” says Perry.
