Watauga to Dedicate Veterans Memorial
The Watauga Veterans Memorial will be unveiled and dedicated on November 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Capp Smith Park.
The memorial represents veterans of all five military branches of the United States of America, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard and is dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and served their country with distinct honor.
The City Council created the Veterans Advisory Committee during the January 2013 City Council meeting. The committee, a seven member board, was tasked with planning and developing the memorial. The committee was chaired by Andy Ivey, a former U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War and one of four Home Town Heroes for the City of Watauga in 2014.
The design of the memorial was completed by City staff.
