Veterans Day Celebrations Planned in Irving ISD
Irving ISD students will celebrate Veterans Day with various events on Tuesday, November 11. They include:
Nimitz High School, 7:45 a.m.
Nimitz High School Culinary Arts will honor those who have served our country with a Veterans Day breakfast 7:45 to 8:30 a.m. The menu includes scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuit sausage or plain gravy, fruit, juice and coffee. MacArthur High School, 8:10 a.m.
There will be a breakfast reception in front of the school. The band will play the National Anthem as the flags are raised at 8:10 a.m. Members of the student council will read a devotion and a poem, and members of the JROTC will explain the significance of the day. Veterans will be recognized at 8:15, then the orchestra and Cardettes will perform. The event concludes with a breakfast on the front patio.
Dallas Veterans Day Parade, 11 a.m.
Members of the Irving High School JROTC will serve as escorts at the Veterans Day Parade in Dallas. The parade will follow the massing of the colors and 11th hour ceremony in front of City Hall.
Singley Academy, noon
Singley Academy will honor veterans with a luncheon noon to 1 p.m. in the school’s conference center. The menu includes smoked brisket, beans, potato salad, rolls and peach cobbler. RSVP to email@example.com.
