Recycle More NRH
The City of North Richland Hills is expanding its residential curbside recycling program with new 65-gallon wheeled carts.
The expanded curbside recycling program is part of the city’s new 5-year solid waste collection contract with Republic Waste Services. A second reading and final vote on the contract is scheduled for the January 12, 2015 City Council Meeting. If approved, the new contract will begin on February 1 and residents will start using their new 65-gallon recycling carts the week of February 1.
The new carts hold three times as much recycling as the smaller bins, making it easy for residents to recycle more each week. A lid is attached to the cart so recyclables won’t get wet or blow out littering the neighborhood. Wheels make the cart easy to roll to the curb.
The new 65-gallon recycling carts are expected to be delivered to all North Richland Hills homes beginning the week of January 12. If you do not receive one by the end of January, please contact Republic Waste Services at 817-317-2450.
In addition to the expanded curbside recycling program, the new solid waste contract includes:
The same Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday garbage collection that residents have become accustomed to from Republic Services. Collection days won’t be changing.
Two free trips to the landfill per household per year. Residents will be required to present a voucher at the landfill. Vouchers will be available online or from the Utility Customer Service Office at City Hall starting in February.
The monthly rate for twice per week garbage and once per week recycling collection will increase from $11.10 per month to $12.87 per month. The discounted senior citizens rate will increase from $10.35 per month to $12.12 per month.
