Joy Goodrum Named Executive Director of La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation
La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation is kicking off 2015 by naming Joy Goodrum as its new Executive Director. The 501(c)(3) charitable organization is focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged youth in North Texas.
Formed in 2010, La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation serves teen mothers, at-risk students, the economically disadvantaged and teens who lack mentors, role models or other positive life influencers.
The foundation runs several initiatives and events each year including an ethics summit, financial literacy program, and tours of local technical schools.
Goodrum joins La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation from her previous position as Director of Education and Workforce Development for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce. There, she managed the Leadership Irving-Las Colinas and Future Leaders of Irving programs, as well as Chamber University.
“It is an honor to continue to serve this community and the youth of North Texas,” said Goodrum. “To help these students realize their true potential and grow to be future leaders will be an exciting journey.”
“The foundation is so pleased to now have Joy in this critical role,” said Chris Allen, Chairman of La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation. “As someone who has been invested in our schools and in the community both personally and professionally, we knew she would be the right fit to help us achieve our goals as we move forward into this exciting new year.”
La Buena Vida Youth Leadership Foundation works closely with several likeminded organizations in the area including the Irving YMCA, Irving Hispanic Chamber, and Irving Independent School District. Later this month, the nonprofit will break ground on La Buena Vida House for homeless teen boys.
