NISD Annouunces New Director of Career and Technical Education

Northwest ISD is proud to announce CyLynn Braswell as the director of career and technical education.

“It is such an honor to get to work in a district that values the education of students beyond the classroom,” said Director of Career and Technical Education CyLynn Braswell.

“Working for Northwest ISD for the past five years, I have seen first-hand the commitment to students, faculty and staff through progressive professional development and continued opportunities for students. It is truly humbling work with so many wonderful educators within such a vast array of programs.”Braswell has been an educator in Northwest ISD since 2010. Currently she serves as the coordinator at Northwest ISD’s Outdoor Learning Center.

She has also been an agricultural science instructor at Byron NelsonHigh School.

Prior to a career in Northwest ISD, Braswell taught in McKinney ISD.

“I look forward to seeing a continued growth in our academies while working to expand the opportunities within our career pathways,” Braswell said.

“Students deserve the opportunity to explore careers while receiving an education that promotes a social awareness and instills career readiness. Northwest ISD’s commitment to students being ready for college and a career is a testament to our understanding that every child matters, even when they are no longer a student.”

Braswell is currently working on her doctorate of education in educational leadership from the University of North Texas.

She holds a master’s of science in information systems and agricultural education from Tarleton State University and a bachelor’s of science in agricultural services and development from Tarleton State University. She is a Texas Master Florist and is a former Project Lead the Way engineering instructor.

She was also named the 2010 Teacher of the Year, nominated by her peers and community, in McKinney ISD.

Braswell will begin the transition into her new role, and NISD will begin seeking applications for a new coordinator for the district’s Outdoor Learning Center.
