Kim Blackburn Named Principal of NISD’s Seven Hills Elementary School
Superintendent Karen G. Rue, Ed.D. recommended Kim Blackburn as the principal of Northwest ISD’s Seven Hills Elementary School in Rhome.
“It is my pleasure to recommend Kim Blackburn as the new principal of Seven Hills Elementary School,” said Superintendent of Schools Karen G. Rue, Ed.D. “Ms. Blackburn is a positive, collaborative and motivated educational leader. We welcome her to the Seven Hills community and look forward to her leadership.”
The NISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Blackburn at the school board meeting on April 27. Blackburn is currently the principal at Grapevine Colleyville ISD’s Grapevine Elementary School where she has led the campus since 2011. Prior to that, she served as an elementary school assistant principal in Clear Creek ISD. She has also taught in Keller and Birdville Independent School Districts.
“I am thrilled to begin working in Northwest ISD serving as principal of Seven Hills Elementary,” said Principal Kim Blackburn. “As a resident of Newark, I am very familiar with the culture and educational programs offered in Northwest ISD. I look forward to establishing a relationship with the students and staff, as well as community members at Seven Hills Elementary.”
Blackburn has a master’s of education in educational administration from the University of North Texas. She holds a bachelor’s of science in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University. She has presented at numerous conferences across the state including the Advancing Improvement in Education Conference and Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. Ms. Blackburn will begin her role as principal of Seven Hills Elementary School at the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year.
