BISD Exceeds State and Nation on ACT
ACT scores for 2015 were released this week, and BISD’s composite score of 21.5 for English, mathematics, reading and science is higher than the state composite of 20.9 and the national composite of 21.0. Average scores on the individual portions of the tests were:
- English – BISD scored 21.0 as compared to the state at 19.8;
- Mathematics – BISD scored 21.3 as compared to the state at 21.1;
- Reading – BISD scored 21.6 as compared to the state at 21.1; and
- Science – BISD scored 21.6 as compared to the state at 21.0.
Individual campus scores were 22.3 for Birdville High, 19.9 for Haltom High, and 22.0 for Richland High. A total of 548 BISD students took the ACT test in 2015.
“I am proud that our students showed improvement on state and national tests again this year,” said Superintendent Dr. Darrell G. Brown. “Across the District, we are committed to continuous improvement. Once again this past year, the Board dedicated additional financial resources to provide ACT and SAT boot camps for juniors and seniors in order to better prepare them to take these tests.”
SAT scores will be released later this fall.
