KHS Doubles Team Places 3rd at State Tennis Tournament
Keller High School sent its doubles team of Cade Boedeker and Riley Tran to the UIL Class 6A State Tournament on Thursday, May 18, and the pair came away with a third-place finish.
The senior Boedeker and the junior Tran won their State Quarterfinals match, rebounding from an opening set loss to win a tie-breaker in the second set and defeat the team from Cypress Ranch 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3.
Boedeker and Tran went up against Houston Memorial’s Benjamin Westwick and Anthony Huynh in the Semifinals. After splitting the first two sets with each team winning 6-3, Memorial won on a tie-breaker 7-6 (8) in the third set to advance. Westwick/Huynh would go on to lose to their Memorial teammates Andrew Esses and Artur Zigman in the Championship Match on Friday, May 19.
