Irving ISD Education Notes; MARK YOUR CALENDAR

Student Holiday – Monday, May 29
Monday, May 29, has been designated a student holiday for Irving ISD in observance of Memorial Day. All schools and district administrative offices will be closed.

Early Release Dates – Wednesday, May 31 & Thursday, June 1
Wednesday, May 31, and Thursday, June 1, are early release dates for Irving ISD
students. School dismissal times are as follows:
• Elementary schools – 12:15 p.m.
• Middle schools – 12:45 p.m.
• Singley Academy – 12:15 p.m.
• Cardwell Career Preparatory Center – 1 p.m.
• Irving, MacArthur and Nimitz high schools – 1:15 p.m.
Early childhood schools will operate normal hours for both morning and afternoon classes.

ISF Alumni Mixer – Thursday, June 1
Calling Irving ISD Alumni! The Irving Schools Foundation is hosting an Alumni Mixer on Thursday, June 1, at NYLO Irving/Las Colinas (1001 W. Royal Lane, Irving, TX 75039) from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be complimentary refreshments and door prizes. RSVP here.

Graduation – Friday, June 2 & Saturday, June 3
Irving ISD commencement ceremonies will be held over the span of two days. All ceremonies will be held at the Potter’s House, 6777 Kiest Blvd. in Dallas. The schedule is as follows:
• Friday, June 2, 2017
o Nimitz High School – 2 p.m.
o Singley Academy – 8 p.m.
• Saturday, June 3, 2017
o MacArthur High School – 9 a.m.
o Irving High School – 3 p.m.

Adult English Literacy Summer Academy – begins Monday, June 5
Irving ISD will host a free Adult English Literacy Summer Academy during the month of June. Classes will meet Monday-Thursday, June 5-29 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Irving ISD Administrative Annex (820 N. O’Connor Road, Irving, TX 75061). Topics include family literacy, ESL, GED basic literacy skills, citizenship and civics lessons, entrepreneurship, computer literacy and conversations. Register in person at the Administrative Annex on the first day of class. Please bring a government-issued form of identification (social security card, driver’s license, birth certificate, passport, Texas ID, residency card). For more information, call 972-600-3770.
