Medical City Arlington Earns National Accreditation, Reaccreditation for Radiology Imaging Services

Arlington, Texas – Medical City Arlington has been awarded national accreditation in computed tomography (CT) – sometimes called CAT scanning – in its emergency department and three reaccreditations for ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT in the hospital’s radiology department as a result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.

“Medical City Arlington’s radiology department is dedicated to providing the highest standard of radiology services essential to helping our team of world-class providers diagnose and tailor treatments to improve the health and well-being of our patients,” said Bruce Railey, MD, Radiology Medical Director. “These national accreditations reaffirm our commitment to delivering high quality patient care.”

Medical City Arlington ensures administration of lower doses of radiation to patients by adhering to patient safety practices established by the HCA Radiation Right Program. The hospital is committed to efficiency and accessibility of patient information for healthcare providers by incorporating radiology images into patient electronic records.

Additionally in its radiology department, Medical City Arlington recently completed an expansion to include a suite for a 3-D Biplane, leading edge technology which allows for 360-degree radiological imaging to enhance visibility for physicians and enables minimally invasive treatments. The Biplane also increases diagnostic and treatment options for high-risk patients and helps physicians locate, assess, and treat lesions of the smallest size while preserving healthy tissue. The Biplane suite was part of an ongoing $100 million capital investment for Medical City Arlington.
