Bob Jones Nature Center: Halloween Glow-in-the-Dark Nature Hike
Not afraid of the dark?
Love the outdoors and the cool fall evenings?
Have a hankering to hike?
Then plan to get up and GLOW to the Bob Jones Nature Center Friday night October 28 for a Glow in the Dark Night Hike!
Bring your friends and family and celebrate the Halloween weekend together with a night hike on the trails of the Bob Jones Nature Center. Texas fall nights are the perfect opportunity to get outside and connect with nature, learn more about night science, and engage in questions and exploration with a park expert. Led by a BJNC instructor, groups will explore the woods as the sun sets; hiking through the trails by the light of glow sticks, headlamps, flashlights, or whatever else you
bring to light your way.
More Reasons to GLOW!
-There won’t be any bats along the trails but there most likely will be deer, wild turkeys and a host of other animals that run free throughout the natural park.
-Candy will be provided and costumes are encouraged but not required. Glow sticks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own glow in the dark devices too.
-The hike is perfect for all ages and the experience even makes exploring the trails after dark a fun, educational and not-so-scary experience for the little ones.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GLOW:
Dress for the weather, wear good hiking shoes or boots, bring water to drink and bring a flash light. Lights with a red filter work the best for night hiking. The park interpreter will have some red filters to share. Plan to arrive at the park gate by 7:00pm to ensure that you make it to the trail head on time.
