NISD: District recognized for energy efficiency thanks to Charles Ashby
The Texas Energy Summit Steering and Awards Committee has recognized Northwest ISD with the Outstanding K-12 School award for its energy efficiency, led by Charles Ashby, the district’s energy manager.
Mr. Ashby was presented with the recognition for Northwest ISD at the 2017 CATEE Texas Energy Summit, an educational forum and business exhibition for energy and water professionals. The event annually brings individuals, organizations and companies together to help communities improve decisions regarding energy and water decisions and their relation to the environment.
Since Mr. Ashby’s hiring in 2008, Northwest ISD has consistently worked to decrease its energy usage, annually saving anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. In 2013, the district participated in an energy-benchmarking program with 23 other area school districts. Northwest ISD was ranked as having the best overall energy use index out of the participating districts.
