Colleyville: Fifth Grader Serves as Mayor for a Day
Daniel Thomas, a Colleyville Heritage Elementary fifth grader, won this year’s Mayor for a Day contest by submitting an essay about how he would make Colleyville a better place to live. Daniel’s ideas included many aspects to make Colleyville a tighter-knit community such as a focus on highlighting our parks and events, creating lasting traditions, and listening to others.
Daniel recently spent a day with City employees learning how the city operates and getting a behind the scenes tour of the police station, fire house, public works facility, and City Hall. He also co-ran a City Council meeting with the Mayor and enjoyed a pizza party with his friends and family.
