Abram Street Rebuild Making Progress in Downtown Arlington

Abram Street Rebuild Making Progress in Downtown Arlington

The City of Arlington has launched a regular Street Tracker segment on MyArlingtonTV to provide transparency and up-to-date information on both current and proposed street maintenance and construction projects.

This month’s episode highlights several major construction milestones for the voter-approved Abram Street Rebuild through Downtown Arlington.

Drainage and paving improvements on the west side of the Abram and Cooper streets intersection, the installation of new storm drains and sanitary sewer lines, as well as the repaving of Pecan Street, were completed in December 2018.

The project kicked off in March 2018 and is on target to be complete in early 2020. In addition to improving utilities infrastructure, streetlights, drainage and creating a smoother, long-lasting roadway, the rebuild will add pedestrian amenities such as new benches, LED lighting, trees and other streetscape improvements to foster a more-inviting, walkable environment for residents, students and visitors.
