Colleyville: CCPAAA Recognized for Service to the Community
On Tuesday, Colleyville City Council approved a $5,000 donation to the Colleyville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CCPAAA). CCPAAA members are a dedicated group of citizens who have completed the Colleyville Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy and continue to work in support of the department through various partnerships. CCPAAA is a 501(c)3 established with the purpose of enhancing the relationship between the Alumni Association, the community, and the Colleyville Police Department.
CCPAAA members assist in supporting the Citizen’s Police Academy each year, volunteer their time at the many city-wide special events, and support the Police Department’s annual awards ceremony.
Some CCPAAA members assist the Colleyville Police Department in regular crime prevention efforts by joining the Colleyville Citizens On Patrol (COP). This group of residents have completed the CPD Citizens Police Academy and attended additional training in order to volunteer their time to patrol the City. COP volunteers act as an extra set of eyes on the street to assist police officers with crime prevention. COP members volunteered more than 888 hours patrolling the streets of Colleyville in 2018. While they take no enforcement action, the patrols are a clear deterrent and serve to further enhance CPD’s efforts to ensure that the City of Colleyville maintains one of the lowest crime rates in Texas.
Tuesday night’s donation was made in recognition of the CCPAAA’s contribution to the public safety and welfare of the citizens of Colleyville. We appreciate the commitment and support the Colleyville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association provides to the Colleyville community.
