NISD: Communications, foundation teams earn five awards from professional association
Northwest ISD’s communications and community relations department combined with the Northwest ISD Education Foundation to win five awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association, their state professional organization, at its recent conference.
The team earned four gold awards and one silver award across a variety of categories in the annual TSPRA Star Awards, which announced winners during its late February conference. The communications and foundation teams competed in the second-largest district classification, for those with 10,000 to 30,000 students enrolled.
On the communications side, Anthony Tosie, communications specialist, earned gold awards for a feature story and newsletter. Mr. Tosie earned a gold award for his written feature story about Creative Media Production Academy students operating the audio and visual experience at Northwest ISD Stadium. He earned his second gold for the Source staff email newsletter.
The communications team joined with the foundation to pick up three additional awards; these awards were earned by Emily Conklin, executive director of communications and the foundation; Alyssa Edstrom, community relations specialist; and Phil Beckman, Partners in Education Specialist.
Mrs. Conklin and Ms. Edstrom earned a gold award for a video feature about the foundation’s “Sketch Pals” grant at Cox Elementary School as well as a silver award for a marketing video about the foundation. They were joined by Mr. Beckman for a gold award in a holiday mailed publication sent to donors.
