Irving ISD Partners with City for New and Improved Playtime
WHO: Representatives from Irving ISD, City of Irving Parks and Recreation, City Councilman Kyle Taylor and Irving ISD Board President Randy Randle.
WHAT: Playtime is getting a brand new look for students at Johnston Elementary School, thanks to a partnership between Irving ISD and the City of Irving. City and district officials recently completed renovations at Johnston Elementary School’s playground. From life-size animals to wall climbers, the district worked with architects and engineers to incorporate student ideas in the process. The result – themed play areas with top-of-the-line equipment sure to keep children of all ages active and engaged. The renovations are part of the city’s Capital Improvement Program which invested more than $700,000 to install and replace old playground equipment.
A formal ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to commemorate the project. The event includes remarks from city and district officials, and a special group of Johnston students will be the first to enjoy the new digs following the ceremony.
