KISD: CES Third-Graders Support Village Of Aberdeen Through Slime Sales

KISD: CES Third-Graders Support Village Of Aberdeen Through Slime Sales

What started as a desire to launch a community project with Ms. Bumpass and Mr. Bollier’s third-grade classes at Caprock Elementary School, quickly left an international mark thanks to the kindness efforts of CES students.

Caprock parent and PTA member Cassie McQuitty works for many non-profit organizations and came to talk to the classes about different organizations they could serve. The students picked the Village of Aberdeen in Zimbabwe and began by writing class letters to the students in the village and dedicating their class non-fiction book to them. But the students decided they weren’t done yet – they also decided to raise money to buy school supplies to send to Aberdeen.

Throughout this time, Ms. Bumpass and Mr. Bollier taught their classes about supply and demand as well as volume and capacity, while students made slime to sell at PTA’s Fabulous Friday. On the first Friday, the slime sold out before school even started, raising more than $165.

Sales will continue at Caprock and all proceeds will go toward buying school supplies for the children in the Village of Aberdeen.

Thank you to our students and staff at Caprock Elementary for Reaching Out with Character and Kindness!
