NISD Announces Administrative Updates
Northwest ISD administration announces Dr. Rhett King as the new coordinator of student services. Dr. King brings more than 23 years of experience leading elementary and secondary students, including two years of international experience in education. His career in education began as a special education instructor for districts including Grapevine/Colleyville, Lewisville and Dallas independent school districts. Currently, he is the principal at John M. Tidwell Middle School where he has led the campus since 2017. He has served in other leadership positions such as principal of Alvord High School, principal of Gainesville Middle School and an assistant principal at Northwest High School.Dr. King received his Ph.D. in educational leadership and masters in K-12 leadership from Capella University. He received a bachelor of arts in radio, television and film from the University of North Texas.
Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, Mr. Justin Vercher will serve as the principal of Tidwell Middle School. He has been the principal of O.A. Peterson Elementary School since 2017. Mr. Vercher joined Northwest ISD as the principal of Chisholm Trail Middle School in Rhome in 2015. He has 14 years of administrative experience serving as a principal in Birdville ISD and Forney ISD as well as an assistant principal in Katy ISD. Mr. Vercher’s teaching experience includes kindergarten, first grade and physical education. Mr. Vercher holds a master of science in education management from the University of Houston and a bachelor of science in elementary education from Sterling College. He is a member of the National Distinguished Principals State Selection Committee and the Principals’ Visioning Institute. He has been on numerous committees which include strategic planning and leadership design.
NISD administration will begin the new search for a principal at Peterson Elementary School.
