The Lone Star Youth Orchestra invites you to join us for “Autumn in Paris” on November 6, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Hall in the Irving Arts Center.
The Lone Star Youth Orchestra will open its 21st season on November 6th with a concert titled “Autumn in Paris”. Composers represented on this French-themed program range from Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges (known as “The Black Mozart”, and best remembered as the first classical composer of African ancestry) to Georges Bizet (whose final work, Carmen, has become one of the most popular and frequently performed works in the entire opera repertoire). Works by Jean-Baptiste Lully and Gabriel Fauré are also included on concert program that is sure to whet your musical appetite for the upcoming LSYO season. Vive la musique française!

Now in his fifth year as conductor of the Lone Star Youth Orchestra, Dr. Kevin Pearce brings a unique combination of a world-class musical background and an unending commitment to education. Pearce earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting at the University of North Texas, in the studio of David Itkin. He currently teaches orchestra in the Rockwall ISD. Prior to his move to North Texas, Pearce served from 2008-2013 as the inaugural Director of Orchestras at Cypress Lakes High School in the western suburbs of Houston. During his tenure, the Cypress Lakes Orchestras won multiple UIL Sweepstakes awards, as well as top honors in local and national festivals.
The Lone Star Youth Orchestra is the only tuition-free youth orchestra in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and is one of the most pivotal pre-college experiences for talented high school instrumentalists. Membership in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is open to all middle and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The LSYO offers rolling auditions throughout the season for interested student musicians.
