Fort Worth – City proclamation honors T Bone Burnett
City Council voted to recognize the legacy of Burnett and his contributions to the film and music industry by proclaiming Feb. 13 as T Bone Burnett Day.
Joseph Henry “T Bone” Burnett III is an Academy Award winner, Golden Globe winner, British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award winner and 13-time Grammy Award, winner. He was born in St. Louis but was raised in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School. He is one of the most celebrated creative voices from Fort Worth and, due to his contributions to music, film, and television, has elevated recognition for the city.
In addition, the portion of St. Louis Avenue between West Vickery Boulevard and West Broadway Avenue in the Near Southside has been designated in honor of Burnett.
Burnett was in town last week to keynote the Visit Fort Worth annual meeting, where he spoke on the importance of supporting artists and creativity.
