District communication, foundation teams earn 10 awards from professional association
Northwest ISD’s communications and community relations department combined with the Northwest ISD Education Foundation to win 10 awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association, their state professional organization, at its recent conference.
The team earned five gold awards, three silver awards and two bronze awards across a variety of categories in the annual TSPRA Star Awards, which announced winners for the 2018-19 school year during its late February conference. The communications and foundation teams competed in the second-largest district classification, for those with 10,000 to 30,000 students enrolled.
On the communications side, Anthony Tosie, communications specialist, earned both a gold and the event’s best in category award for the district’s Northwest News email newsletter. He also earned a silver award for a feature story about Steele Accelerated High School students earning associate degrees and a bronze award for the district magazine, Northwest Navigator.
Rhett Schwartzkopf, communications and multimedia specialist, earned several awards for his videos, led by three gold awards – for his exemplar educators, Prairie View Elementary School Leader-VISION and entry call station videos. He also earned a bronze for his pre-K program video.
Melissa Shawn, communications and web specialist, earned a gold award for her Northwest ISD annual report document.
The communications team joined with the education foundation to pick up two additional awards. Mrs. Shawn and Alyssa Edstrom, community relations specialist for the foundation, earned silver awards for the foundation’s annual report and “Thank You” postcard for the employee giving campaign.
