CEDAR HILL ISD NEWS RELEASE: CEDAR HILL ISD TO DISTRIBUTE “GRAB & GO” MEALS ON MONDAY AND WEDNESDAYS; TO ADD WEEKEND MEAL DISTRIBUTION ON FRIDAYS
The safety and security of our scholars, teachers and staff members is Cedar Hill ISD’s top priority.
Cedar Hill ISD believes in caring for the whole child and providing nutritious and healthy meals for our scholars. Due to the Dallas County Shelter in Place Order and our ongoing efforts to support minimizing interactions with others, CHISD is modifying its meal pickup schedule.
Starting Monday, April 20, we will begin “Grab & Go” meal distribution on Mondays and Wednesdays only. Scholars will be able to pick up the meals for the week on those days. This change will allow us to continue to serve our scholars meals while decreasing the number of times families have to leave their homes.
The time remains the same – 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the locations are the same:
· Plummer Elementary School (Door #5)
· High Pointe Elementary School (Door #11)
· Bessie Coleman Middle School (Door #15)
· Cedar Hill High School (Door #14)
· Highlands Elementary School (Door #3)
Cedar Hill ISD Superintendent Dr. Gerald Hudson said reducing the number of days, while still maintaining the same amount of food, will help families lessen their risk to COVID-19 by lowering the number of days they leave the house.
“Moving from five days to two will boost our social distancing efforts in accordance with the Dallas County Shelter in Place Order,” Hudson said.
Workout Wednesdays, a program where scholars receive physical education equipment to use while social distancing, will continue at the five aforementioned “Grab & Go” Meal Sites.
In addition, we will provide weekend meals, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, at Cedar Hill High School Door # 14, only.
