Construction is moving right along on the H-E-B Mid Cities grocery store, located at 2105 Rio Grande Blvd. H-E-B officials have not provided an official opening date yet, but we’ll be sure to share that once that has been determined. The City is still estimating a late spring/early summer opening date.
The traffic signal on Cheek-Sparger, between Heritage Avenue and Rio Grande Boulevard, is still under construction. The signal will be active by the time the store is ready to open and the City will work with Euless and TxDOT to coordinate the signals between Heritage and S.H. 121 for better traffic flow.
Naturally, talking about H-E-B and the traffic associated with it brings concern about Cheek-Sparger Road. City staff recently met with staff from Colleyville and the North Central Texas Council of Governments to discuss the status of the Cheek-Sparger Road project.
The Colleyville project, which spans from Bedford Road to Heritage Avenue, is still in the design process and plans are expected to be complete sometime in late 2027 or early 2028. Road construction is very tentatively expected to start sometime around late 2028 or early 2029.
As part of the road reconstruction, the Trinity River Authority will install a larger waterline under the road first. Once that work is complete, Colleyville plans to keep it a two-lane road, but with added turn lanes, and sidewalks. A traffic signal will be installed at the Martin Drive intersection as part of the project.
