Change in Preferred Drug List Status for Hypoglycemics, Insulin and Related Drug Class Effective July 27, 2026

Due to high product demand, Sanofi is currently experiencing shipping delays with Lantus Solostar resulting in product backorder. In response, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) temporarily removed the non-preferred status from certain insulin products on the preferred drug list (PDL).

HHSC removed the non-preferred status for the following drugs in the table below, effective July 27, 2026.

Hypoglycemics, Insulin and Related

These changes allow providers to prescribe certain insulin products without requirement of a PDL prior authorization and continue access to necessary medication for members.
