Texas families can save on back-to-school shopping during the state’s annual Sales Tax Holiday, taking place Aug. 7–9.

During the three-day event, most school supplies, clothing, shoes and school uniforms priced under $100 can be purchased tax-free, helping families prepare for the upcoming school year while reducing shopping costs.

The tax holiday applies to many commonly purchased back-to-school items that meet the state’s eligibility requirements and price limits. Shoppers are encouraged to review the list of qualifying items before making purchases to maximize their savings.

The annual tax holiday is administered by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and is intended to provide financial relief to families as students prepare to return to the classroom.

The promotional campaign encourages Texans to take advantage of the weekend by purchasing eligible back-to-school necessities while state and local sales taxes are waived on qualifying items.

Additional information about eligible products, purchase guidelines and frequently asked questions is available through the Texas Sales Tax Holiday website at TexasTaxHoliday.org.

Parents and students planning to shop during the weekend are encouraged to make purchases between Aug. 7 and Aug. 9 to receive the tax exemption on qualifying items.
