TCC Foundation offers 40 scholarships for new early childhood bachelor’s program

Tarrant County College is offering 40 scholarships to eligible students enrolling in its new Bachelor of Applied Science in early childhood education and teaching. Classes begin Oct. 12 at TCC South in Fort Worth.

Forty aspiring teachers can receive help paying for tuition, books and other education-related expenses through scholarships for Tarrant County College’s new Bachelor of Applied Science in early childhood education and teaching.

The Tarrant County College Foundation is offering the scholarships to eligible students enrolling in the College’s first bachelor’s degree program. The first cohort is expected to include about 20 students.

Classes begin Oct. 12 at TCC South, 5301 Campus Drive in Fort Worth, during the College’s second eight-week fall session.

The two-year Bachelor of Applied Science in early childhood education and teaching is designed for students who have completed an Associate of Arts in teaching, an Associate of Applied Science in early childhood education, or another qualifying associate degree with directed electives.

The program prepares graduates for teacher certification in Early Childhood through Grade 3 and Early Childhood through Grade 6. Classes combine in-person and online learning, allowing working early childhood professionals to continue working while advancing their education.

TCC Chancellor Elva LeBlanc said the scholarships support people who already work with young children and want to become qualified teachers. The program is intended to help address the need for educators in public school classrooms and child care centers.

Shereah Taylor-Love, dean of the Human and Public Service Pathway at TCC South, said scholarship support can help students pursue certification while balancing education with family responsibilities.
