Ten Birdville ISD elementary and middle schools earned recognition in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings.

Ten Birdville ISD elementary and middle schools were named among the best in the country in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings, released October 20.

The recognized schools are Birdville Elementary, Green Valley Elementary, Hardeman Elementary, North Ridge Elementary, North Ridge Middle, Porter Elementary, Smithfield Elementary, Smithfield Middle, Walker Creek Elementary and Watauga Middle.

The rankings evaluated public schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia for the 2026-2027 Best Elementary and Middle School lists. U.S. News reviewed more than 107,000 schools in an evaluation process that considered standardized test scores, math and reading proficiency, state exam performance, student backgrounds and learning in core subjects.

Birdville ISD Superintendent Dr. Gayle Stinson said the recognition reflects the work of educators, families and students throughout the district.

“Rankings can provide a snapshot of a school, but they can never fully capture what happens inside our classrooms every day,” Stinson said. “What makes me most proud is knowing our students are surrounded by educators who see their potential, challenge them to grow, and make sure they know they belong.”

The recognition follows other recent honors for the district. In August, Richland, Birdville and Haltom high schools were named to the U.S. News & World Report 2026-2027 Best High Schools rankings. Earlier this spring, Birdville ISD was named a Top 25 district in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.

The district was also named a District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas last fall. Birdville ISD was one of 72 districts across Texas to receive the designation, which recognizes robust Career and Technical Education programs serving students, communities and employers.
