The Texas Music Office (TMO) administers the Music Educational and Community Program, also known as the “License Plate Grant,” which provides grants to benefit music-related educational and community programs sponsored by 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Texas.

Funding for the TMO grants comes from the sale of Texas Music specialty license plates, where $22 from the $30 fee for each custom plate goes directly into the TMO’s Music Educational and Community Program.

The TMO will be accepting applications for grant projects in the 2024 Fiscal Year through August 31, 2024 at 5:00PM CST.

Only 501(c)(3) nonprofits based in Texas may apply. The eligibility criteria for the nonprofit, includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Be a nonprofit organized and based in Texas;
  • Be in good standing with the State of Texas; and
  • Owe no delinquent taxes to a taxing unit of Texas.

Application Process:

TMO grant applications must be submitted by an eligible nonprofit.
