Handley-Ederville/Frontage Rd Improvements
TXDOT has begun a mill and overlay roadwork construction project in Richland Hills as part of the IH 820/SH 121 improvements. The roadwork will occur during nighttime hours on Handley-Ederville Road and the SH 121 (Airport Fwy) southbound frontage road from Handley-Ederville to the west.
The project is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks to complete and there will be changes to the normal traffic flow in these areas during construction. Additionally, the work is being done overnight and those who live near this area may notice the overnight construction noise.
Below is the estimated construction schedule:
Handley-Ederville Rd Intersection
• Mill- nightly from Jul 31-Aug 1
• Overlay- nightly from Aug 4-12
SH 121 Southbound Frontage Road
• Mill- nightly from Aug 4-7
*What is mill and overlay? Mill and Overlay Projects involve six to eight inches of asphalt ground up and applied with concrete slurry as a road base. Then approximately six to eight inches of new asphalt are overlayed on top of the road base.
