Record-breaking Dove Season Ahead

Texas has been called the “dove-huntingest” state in the union, and the upcoming season will testify to that. According to our surveys, mourning dove numbers are up a healthy 21%, and white-winged doves are at the highest numbers ever recorded in Texas: 12.8 million!

Dove season opens on 9/1 in the North and Central Zones, and the South Zone’s Special White-Winged Dove Days also start 9/1. For all regulation information, refer to the updated Oudoor Annual online or the app.Anyone born after Sept. 1, 1971 must complete Hunter Education to hunt in Texas. Once completed, you can find your Hunter Ed certificate online. Don’t forget to buy your license, and look over the Dove Season Checklist to be sure you’re ready for this extraordinary season.
