✔ Iron Horse Blvd
All lanes of the newly reconstructed Iron Horse Boulevard between Browning Drive and Carlise Court will reopen to traffic starting this Friday, Sept. 20. Crews will be finishing up landscaping work, sidewalk construction and driveway approaches during the next two weeks. One southbound lane of Rufe Snow Drive and one westbound lane of Iron Horse will be closed near the intersection starting this Friday for the sidewalk and driveway work. Please slow down and watch for workers in the area.
🚧 Broadway Avenue
Starting Monday, Sept. 23, Broadway Avenue will be closed for utility construction from Willowcrest Drive to Boulevard 26, including at the intersection of Richland Plaza Drive. This closure is needed for the City of Fort Worth to install a large-diameter wastewater main as part of a sewer infrastructure improvement project. The work, which is dependent on the weather, is expected to last about two weeks. A second closure of Broadway Avenue will be required at a later date. We will share that information when available.
🚧 Wood View Street
On Monday, Sept. 23, contractors will begin paving operations on Wood View. This includes milling up the old asphalt pavement and stabilizing the subgrade. Next, they will place a binder on the roadway and lay the new asphalt pavement. The work, which is dependent on good weather, is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete.
🚧 Sierra Drive
The reconstruction of Sierra Drive is expected to be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 25.
🚧 Browning Drive
On Browning Drive, the contractor has completed construction of the new sewer main and 35-foot-deep sanitary sewer manhole. The large area that was excavated has been completely backfilled and the contractor will now reconstruct three areas of concrete pavement that were demoed during construction. Browning Drive is expected to fully reopen to two-way traffic sometime during the week of Sept. 30. We are sorry for the continued inconvenience during this needed sewer improvement project.
Sept. 17 Post
Vance Road will be temporarily closed on the north side of Glenview Drive beginning this Wednesday, Sept. 18, and continuing through Friday, Sept. 20 for utility work. The closure is necessary while crews install a new water main in this area. Motorists who use Vance Road should plan an alternate route.
WORK ZONE SAFETY REMINDERS
With construction on several city streets and the new Loop 820 project underway for the foreseeable future, it’s important to keep work zone safety in mind. Work zones present a different and sometimes challenging environment for drivers to navigate. Motorists may encounter uneven pavement, narrow lanes, concrete barriers, slow-moving heavy equipment, and vehicles that make sudden stops. TxDOT’s “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign offers five tips for safely driving through work zones:
- Slow down. Follow the posted work zone speed limit and proactively adjust your driving to match road conditions.
- Pay attention. Avoid distractions, keep your mind on the road and put your phone away.
- Don’t tailgate. Give yourself room to stop in a hurry, should you need to. Rear-end collisions are the most common kind of work zone crashes.
- Watch out for road crews. Roadside workers want to get home safely too. Always follow instructions and be mindful of construction area road signs.
- Allow extra time. Road construction can slow things down. Count on it and plan for it.
